MADISON, N.J.--No. 14 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer shut out the Drew University Rangers 1-0 on Saturday and improved to 2-1 on the season.
The Garnet rattled off 22 shots to Drew's eight attempts. Swarthmore pressed deep into Drew's end and set up nine corner kicks while only allowing one corner opportunity for the Rangers.
Chantal Reyes earned the win in goal and split the shutout with
Nora Greer. Reyes recorded two saves in the process.
Swarthmore netted the only goal of the game in the 36th minute when
Maddy Carens recovered a blocked shot taken by
Brittany Weiderhold. Carens blasted a shot from outside of the box and tucked it inside the left post for her first goal of the season.
Swarthmore had some more scoring opportunities in the first half, posting seven other shots on goal in the period.
The Garnet are back in action on Sunday on Drew's campus where they will play the US Coast Guard Academy.
