Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 25 Women's Soccer Blanks No. 21 Ducks

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Receiving a stellar performance in goal from sophomore goalkeeper Chantal Reyes, No. 25 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer shut out the visiting No. 21 Stevens Tech Ducks on Friday night 1-0. Swarthmore has now won four straight, improving to 5-1 on the season. Stevens dipped to 2-2-1.

The Garnet got on the board early, netting a goal in the third minute. Swarthmore took a throw-in deep in its attacking third. Seneca Kinn-Gurzo's re-entry bounced into the box and found the head of sophomore Kim Kockenmeister. With Stevens' keeper coming off the line to make a play, Kockenmeister deftly flicked the ball in with her head for her sixth goal of the season. The early tally was reminiscent of Swarthmore's last home game on Sept. 1 when Kockenmeister scored in the fifth minute and the team went on to score seven goals. However, the flood gates stayed shut on Friday as Kockenmeister's early marker was the only shot to cross the plane.

And it was not for lack of trying from either team. Stevens fired off 25 total shots to keep Reyes on her toes between the posts. Two of her saves in the first half were spectacular and saved the game for Swarthmore. She went on to collect seven in the contest.

Swarthmore popped off 18 shots, six on goal. In the second half, Swarthmore pressed deep into enemy territory and recorded four corner kicks.

The Garnet continue a three-game home stand on Sunday with a 4 p.m. matchup with Penn State Berks.
