GLENSIDE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse improved to 2-0 on the year with a a 14-3 win over the Arcadia University Knights on Thursday night.
Led by hat-tricks from Kathryn Restrepo and Mackenzie Frost, the Garnet established an early lead and never looked back.
Tess Wild, Helena Irvine and Sophie Peipher each added a pair of goals, and Elizabeth Wainwright and Kacy Hafertepe scored once.
Swarthmore jumped out to an early 4-0 lead 12 minutes into the first half. After Arcadia got on the board, Frost scored back-to-back goals to complete her hat trick with 6:02 remaining in the first half. The Garnet would score once more in the half and went into the break up 7-3.
Swarthmore shut out Arcadia 7-0 in the second half. Restrepo and Irvine both scored a pair of goals in the second half.
The game was tightly officiated and seven yellow yards were issued, four to Arcadia and three to Swarthmore. The Garnet scored two player-up goals off of Arcadia yellow cards.
The Garnet scored seven of their goals off of free-position shots. Arcadia went 2-for-5 on free-position attempts.
Wild and Peipher led the Garnet with four draw controls a piece. Wild added a game-high nine ground balls.
In goal, Betsy Cohen recorded six saves to secure the win.
Swarthmore continues non-league play on Saturday at Widener University.
