SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 7 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball handled the Haverford College Fords on the road on Wednesday night 79-57, improving to 21-3 overall and 14-3 in Centennial Conference action.
The Garnet, paced by a game-high 19 points from Cam Wiley, left no doubt the second time around facing the Fords this season. In the earlier meeting between the two teams, the Garnet had escaped with a two-point win. Swarthmore led by as many as 29 points in the second half.
From 3-point range, the Garnet made a season-high 15 3-pointers, shooting 41.7 percent. Wiley, Conor Harkins, Justin Tucker and George Visconti all connected on three triples.
Harkins ended the night with 13 points and four rebounds and Tucker pitched in 11 points and seven boards.
Zac O'Dell posted a double-double with an even 10 points and 10 rebounds, his sixth double-double of the season.
The first half remained close and Haverford even led by four points with 8:17 to play in the period. The Garnet then went on a 10-0 run, keeping Haverford off the scoreboard for the next five minutes. An 11-2 run by the Garnet to close out the half gave them a double-digit lead, 40-29, going into halftime.
Swarthmore's lead held in the double-digits the rest of the way, and a 12-0 run midway through the second half pushed the Garnet's lead above 20.
Swarthmore remains at the top of the Centennial Conference with a one-game lead over the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays. Swarthmore will clinch the top-seed in the conference tournament with a win on Saturday or a Hopkins loss.
