Men's Basketball Fights Off Knights

ASTON, Pa.—No. 1 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball (2-0) fought off the Neumann University Knights 86-76 on the road Saturday night.

Five players reached double digits in scoring, and sophomore guard George Visconti scored a team-high 14 points. Zac O'Dell had another double-double, dropping 13 points and 10 rebounds. Justin Tucker came in off the bench and scored 13 points while collecting seven rebounds. Freshman point guard Vinny DeAngelo added 11 points in 24 minutes as a reserve. Ryan Ingram pitched in 10 points and six rebounds.

Forward Nate Shafer scored eight points and pulled down six rebounds while blocking four shots. Colin Shaw and Michael Caprise each added three, and Conor Harkins pitched in three.

Swarthmore shot 43.5 percent from the floor and 37.9 percent from 3-point territory.

Haneef Vaughn led Neumann (2-1) with 21 points.

Swarthmore's lead reached as high as 26 points in the second half, but a late Neumann run made the final score appear closer than the contest actually was.

The Garnet play their first home game of the year on Wednesday at 8 p.m. against TCNJ.
