SWARTHMORE, Pa. –
Andie Tappenden led the way as Swarthmore College Field Hockey earned a non-conference victory over Elizabethtown College on Wednesday night at Clothier Field.
After the 3-1 victory, the Garnet improved to 5-9 on the season.
Heide Van Voorhis opened the scoring for Swarthmore in the seventh minute of play. The sophomore's second goal of the season came with the help of Tappenden.
Just minutes into the third quarter, Madison Kubik tied the game at one. Tappenden gave the Garnet the lead in the 46th minute as she netted her fourth of the season. Van Voorhis lent a helping hand for her third assist of the year.
Marion Carr added an insurance goal in the 53rd and it involved a familiar teammate. The sixth goal of the season was assisted by Tappenden as she accounted for four points in the game.
Aron Lankford recorded one save against the Blue Jays. The Garnet recorded nine shots, while Elizabethtown was held to only seven.
Swarthmore returns to the field on Saturday as they take on conference foe Gettysburg at 1:00 PM.
