SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Men's Tennis defeated Haverford College 7-2 on Tuesday, bringing its record to 8-0 in the Centennial Conference with one match separating them from a perfect regular season.
The Garnet (12-10 overall) face Johns Hopkins (14-3, 8-0) in a match that will determine the top seed in the conference playoffs on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Baltimore.
Swarthmore won two doubles matches. Senior
Mark Fallati and junior
Simon Vernier won 8-2 in the first spot. Freshman
Jiung Jung and senior
Blake Oetting won 8-1 in the third slot.
Five Garnet players were victorious in singles. Fallati won 6-1, 6-2 in No. 1. Vernier was victorious in the third spot by a 6-3, 7-6 score.
Jung won 7-6, 7-5 in the third position. Freshman
John Lathrop won 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 at No. 5. And junior
James Hahn won 6-1, 6-4 in the sixth slot.
