ALLENTOWN, Pa.—Sophomore goalie
Betsy Cohen denied a Muhlenberg College shot on goal at the buzzer to secure a 13-12 win for Swarthmore College Women's Lacrosse.
The Garnet improved to 3-3 in the conference with the win and are in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Centennial Conference.
Tess Wild led Swarthmore with four goals in the win and had two assists while also grabbing a team-high eight draw controls.
Bella Levine and
Kathryn Restrepo both scored a pair of goals in the win. Restrepo now has 99 points for her career.
Andie Battin,
Elizabeth Wainwright,
Julia Ostrowski,
Taylor Chiang and
Sydnie Schwarz all scored a goal as well.
Swarthmore led by three after the first half and with 12:20 left in the game had what appeared to be a comfortable six-goal lead.
However, Muhlenberg stormed back with five unanswered goals, and pulled within one with 1:05 left. Muhlenberg won the draw after that goal and then missed a shot high with 15 seconds left. The Mules' shot at the buzzer was turned away by Cohen who finished with nine saves.
Swarthmore plays at McDaniel College on Saturday.
