SALEM, Ore.—Swarthmore College Baseball fell 8-3 on the road in the first game of a three-game series with the Willamette University Bearcats on Friday.
Williamette scored four runs in the first two innings and Swarthmore wasn't able to catch up. The Garnet scored a run in the fifth inning on an error and then picked up another run in the sixth on a single by
Jared Gillen.
Another run came across in the eighth inning with a fly ball that brought home another run.
Swarthmore finished with five hits while Williamette posted nine hits.
AJ Liu went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Gillen, Elliot and
James Rutledge all recorded a hit.
Ricky Conti (3-1) was stuck with his first loss of the season, allowing six earned runs and striking out four.
Swarthmore plays the final two games of the series at Williamette on Saturday.
