Women's Basketball Battles F&M On Senior Day

SWARTHMORE, Pa.--Swarthmore College Women's Basketball recognized seniors Hayley Raymond, Bridget Scott and Raina Williams at Saturday's season finale.

Teammates, friends and family celebrated with the trio as Swarthmore hosted the Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats. The Diplomats started out hot and Swarthmore was unable to catch up, falling 85-64.

Audra Woodside led all Swarthmore scorers with 15 points and had seven rebounds for a solid statistical performance. Woodside went 5-for-10 from the floor and 5-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Elizabeth Stiles chipped in 13 points and had four steals, three rebounds and two assists.

Abigail Pirron added nine points, and Kendall Tribus had eight.

Williams finished with five points and six rebounds.

Christina Holmgren added four points. Scott, Raymond, Abigail Posta and Eleonore Moser each had two, and Isabelle Ewart and Jayna Jones had one.

Swarthmore out-scored F&M in bench points 45-11.

Both teams finished with 37 rebounds, but F&M handled the ball better than Swarthmore, committing just six turnovers to Swarthmore's 17.

Raymond, who was a game-time decision  to play in the game because of injuries, started the contest. She got the chance to end her career with a successful field goal, knocking down a 17-foot jumpshot from the right side in the first minute and then returning to the bench to cheer on her teammates.

F&M dashed to a 29-9 first quarter advantage and didn't look back. Diplomat Kristin Hamill scored a game-high 26 points, and teammate Haley Pilone added 20.

Swarthmore played tougher in the second quarter, out-scoring the Diplomats 24-17 but couldn't overcome that 20-point first quarter deficit.

The Garnet look to return nine letter-winners for the 2018-19 season.
