WESTMINSTER, Md.—No. 9 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball rolled past the McDaniel College Green Terror 80-49 on Tuesday night.
Swarthmore improved to 12-1 on the season and a perfect 6-0 in Centennial Conference play. McDaniel dipped to 2-10 (0-6 Centennial).
The Garnet defense smothered the Green Terror, limiting them to a 36.4 percent mark shooting from the floor. The Garnet rejected 10 Green Terror attempts. Sophomore forward
Nate Shafer had five of those blocks on his own and rounded out his stat line with 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Zack Yonda led Swarthmore with 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting. He extended his consecutive free throws made streak to 42 and is chasing the NCAA record of 66 in one season.
Cam Wiley scored 13 points off the bench while shooting 5-for-5.
Swarthmore shot 52.5 percent from the floor (31-for-59) and had 45 points off the bench.
The Garnet never trailed in the contest and led by as many 36 points in the second half.
Swarthmore resumes play at home on Thursday against Johns Hopkins University.
