SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming put their training in Puerto Rico to the test on Saturday with a home meet against Rowan University and Stevens Institute of Technology.
Swarthmore out-scored Stevens 175-86, but fell to Rowan 144-117.
Swarthmore opened by winning the 400 medley with a time of 4:04.84.
In one of the more exciting finishes of the day, freshman
Hannah Kloetzer came close to taking first in the 1000 free, but the duration race was decided by 0.13 seconds. Kloetzer finished second with a time of 10:41.63. She also finished first in the 500 free (5:16.05).
Scout Clark finished in first in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.52 and also came in first in the 400 IM (4:43.97).
Clare Cushing won the 200 fly by nearly five seconds with a time of 2:12.91.
In the 200 back, freshman
Hyeyun Chae swam to first place with a time of 2:09.81.
The 200 breaststroke belonged to
Sophia Lee, who edged the second-place swimmer by 0.05 seconds. Lee clocked in at 2:30.70.
Swarthmore is back in action on Feb. 3 at home against Gettysburg College.
