Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Garnet Overcome Fords In Overtime

HAVERFORD, Pa.—Cam Wiley led No. 15 Swarthmore College Men's Basketball with 20 points in the Garnet's 65-60 win overtime win at Haverford College on Wednesday night.

Swarthmore bounced back from its Saturday loss at Franklin & Marshall to improve to 14-2 overall and 8-1 in conference.
Three other Garnet players scored at least 10 points in the win. Two of those players had double doubles: Zac O'Dell scored 13 points and pulled down 11 rebounds, and Robbie Walsh registered 11 points and 12 rebounds. Zack Yonda added 10 points in the overtime win.

Without sophomore big Nate Shafer on Wednesday, the Garnet only got nine points off the bench with five from Conor Harkins and four from Abass Sallah.

Swarthmore controlled the rebounding game, grabbing 54 rebounds to Haverford's 41.

Neither team shot particularly well with the Garnet hitting 21-of-59 attempts from the floor (35.6 percent) and Haverford canning 22-of-63 (34.9 percent).

After taking a two-point lead into the break, Swarthmore led by as many 13 points in the second half. A 3-pointer from Wiley put Swarthmore up 54-41 with 6:14 to go. However, Haverford assembled a 14-1 run to close out the game, tying the contest at 1:28 on a Joe Scibelli 3-pointer. Swarthmore went 0-for-2 on their final two possessions and couldn't come up with the offensive board and the game headed to overtime.

Haverford scored first in overtime with another bucket from Scibelli who scored a team-high 18 points and had 14 rebounds.

Zac O'Dell scored on a layup and then hit a pair of free throws. Robbie Walsh added another layup with 1:47 to go to make it a six-point Swarthmore lead. A Walsh free throw made it 64-57 with 19 seconds to go to put the game away.

Up next for Swarthmore is the Dickinson College Red Devils at home on Saturday at 3 p.m.
