SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 10 Swarthmore College Women's Soccer cruised to a 3-0 win over the formerly unbeaten Dickinson College Red Devils on Wednesday night.
The Garnet improved to 7-0 (1-0 Centennial) and gave Dickinson (6-1, 0-1 Centennial) a mark in the loss column.
Katie Dougherty led the Garnet with a pair of goals, and Marin McCoy had a goal and two assists.
Dougherty scored the first goal of the game in the fifth minute, after receiving a pass from McCoy around the backline. Dougherty pushed toward the end line and finished around the keeper from five yards out. Then in the 11th minute, McCoy scored a goal of her own, carving through Dickinson's defense with a few stutter steps and then finishing with a strong right-footed shot from just inside the 18.
Sydney Covitz nearly made it 3-0 in the 14th minute, but her shot was turned away by the crossbar.
Swarthmore goalkeeper Amy Shmoys finished with five saves to record the clean sheet.
In the 71st minute, the Garnet capped off their scoring with Dougherty's second of the night. McCoy crossed a ball in from the left side, Sarah Hancock deflected it towards Dougherty who ran in and finished off the play from just outside the six.
With the four-point game, McCoy ups her season total to 24 points in just seven games. She's on pace to shatter her own school record of 40 points in a season, set in 2015.
Women's Soccer returns to action on Tuesday at Ursinus College for a 7 p.m. game.
