LANCASTER, Pa.--Fourth-seeded Swarthmore College Men's Lacrosse challenged top-seeded Franklin & Marshall College on the road on Wednesday night but fell to the Diplomats 8-5.
After falling behind 4-0, the Garnet pulled to within two goals by the end of the third quarter after scoring twice in the final 12 seconds of the period. Following
Sam Sokota's goal which made it 6-3 with 12 seconds left in the period,
Stephen Ducey won the resulting faceoff and dashed towards goal, ripping in his first goal of the season just seven seconds later.
Ducey was dominant in the faceoff game again, winning 14-of-16 attempts. Ducey finishes the season 170-for-264 (64.4 percent) from the faceoff x.
The Garnet out-scored the Diplomats 3-2 in the third, but couldn't catch the hosts in the fourth.
Cam Marsh led the Garnet with a pair of goals and closed out the season a team-leading 36 goals. In addition to the goal scored by Sokota and Ducey, the other Garnet goal came from freshman
Austin Chang.

Cole Fox recorded 11 saves and totaled 154 saves on the year.
Swarthmore, appearing in the Centennial Conference postseason for the second season in a row, wraps up the 2017 season with a 10-6 record.
