SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College baseball team fell by a 13-3 score to the visiting Haverford College Fords on Wednesday, April 26.
Swarthmore scored two runs in the bottom of the second for an early lead.
Matt Palmer and
Kenji Yoshii reached first and second before
Ryan Burnett doubled them in with a rope off the center field wall.
The Fords erased the deficit in the top of the third and both sides played to a stalemate until the seventh when the visitors broke through with four runs. They added three more in the eighth and four more in the ninth to put the Garnet on the ropes.
Max Grullon crossed the plate in the final inning to provide the final scoring margin.
Grullon finished with a pair of hits and
Wesley Fishburn extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single.
Swarthmore looks to bounce back on Friday, April 28 when it travels to Haverford in the conclusion of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
