SWARTHMORE, Pa.—In what was originally scheduled for a road doubleheader under the lights, Swarthmore won Tuesday evening's single game at home against Rosemont College 10-2.
Emily Bowman pitched seven steady innings, striking out 11 batters while only allowing two hits and two walks, and improved to 4-1 on the year.
The Garnet, batting as the away team in the scorebook, posted 10 hits in the win. Emilie Morse, Elizabeth Curcio, Kennedy Kings and Gabriella Natoli all had a pair of hits. Morse, Kings, Natoli and Sara Planthaber all knocked in a pair of runs.
Rosemont scored first, but Swarthmore pounced for four runs in the third. Kings started off the big inning with a double whipped down the left field line and was later brought home on a Natoli single to center field. With two outs, Planthaber plated Natoli with an RBI-single. Morse then knocked a double down the right field line to bring home Planthaber and Marisa Mancini.
The Garnet tallied a pair in the fourth. Natoli drove in Kings with a single to right center. She then stole second and took the next bags when the throw to second sailed into the outfield.
Swarthmore added two more runs in the fifth to go ahead 8-2 and added another run in the sixth. The Garnet closed out the contest with a Kings' sac fly in the seventh that scored Kalli Segel.
Swarthmore returns to action on Thursday at home against Marywood University.
