SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming had its four-meet win streak to start the season snapped on Saturday by the visiting Ursinus College Bears. The Bears, ranked 20th nationally, have now won 35 consecutive Centennial dual meets. Ursinus took Saturday's meet 149-113.
Swarthmore had the top finishers in the 200-, 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle, the the 100 breaststroke and the 200 IM.
Freshman
Hannah Kloetzer finished in first in the 500 and 1,000 free. She won the 1,000 free by 20 seconds with a time of 10:50.44.
Her 500 free time of 5:20.91 was two seconds faster than sophomore teammate
Clare Cushing's.
Cushing captured the top spot in the 200 free after swimming the heat in 1:57.28.
Maggie Eberts and
Sophia Lee finished first and third in the 100 breaststroke with marks of 1:08.55 and 1:09.17, respectively.
Lee, a freshman, finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.37.
The Garnet finished second in both relays, but their time in the 200 medley was faster than the previous pool record.
Swarthmore swimmers compete at Division II West Chester University next Friday and Saturday.
