HAVERFORD, Pa.–The Swarthmore College team concluded the 2017 campaign with a 3-0 loss to hosting Haverford College on Saturday, Oct. 28.
The Fords put one on the board in the opening minutes of the game. Swarthmore responded with a pair of penalty corners and a shot on goal by
Clare Perez that was turned away by the Ford keeper. The hosts struck again at 22:50 and continued with a series of shots against
Zelda Bank, who recorded 10 saves on the afternoon.
Samie Martin registered a shot toward net in the first half, but Swarthmore trailed 2-0 heading into the locker room. Haverford scored quickly in the final period for a 3-0 advantage it would not surrender.
The Garnet wrap up the year with a 7-10 record under first-year head coach
Hannah Allison. The team will graduate six seniors (
Ellory Laning,
Clare Perez,
Amy Gilligan,
Jane Blicher,
Nicole Phalen and
Sierra Spencer) and is slated to return 12 letterwinners for 2018.
