SWARTHMORE, Pa.–The Swarthmore College women's basketball team was handed a 72-51 loss courtesy of the visiting Dickinson College Red Devils on Saturday, Dec. 3.
Freshman
Lindsay O'Sullivan nearly collected a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds and
Kayla Sembly added 10 points, including a pair of makes from downtown.
Hayley Raymond went 4-of-7 from the field to the tune of eight points as
Audra Woodside and
Melanie Ackerman added six apiece.
Dickinson held a slight 42-43 margin in rebounding, but the Garnet managed to snag 17 boards on the offensive glass for 11 second chance points.
An O'Sullivan layup to begin the game gave Swarthmore an early lead before both teams battled it out in the first quarter. The Red Devils led by five at the end of the frame and extended their lead to 19 before halftime.
Swarthmore managed to outscore Dickinson in the third quarter as Raymond and Woodside combined for eight points and the team shot 50 percent overall. The offense, however, went cold in the fourth quarter with only three made field goals and the Red Devils came away with a double-digit win.
The Garnet will play their final game of December on the seventh when they travel to Ursinus College for a Centennial Conference showdown at 6 p.m.
