CHESTERTOWN, Md.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming outswam the Washington College Shorewomen on Wednesday night, winning 114-91.
The Garnet won five of the 11 events, including the final three events. Swarthmore locked up 16 points in the 100-yard breaststroke, the penultimate event, by taking first, second and third.
Maggie Eberts claimed first with a time of 1:09.44,
Elizabeth Staton came in second (1:10.33) and
Eva Winter finished third (1:11.71).
Swarthmore won the relays to bookend the competition. In the 200-yard medley relay,
Emily Bley,
Eva Winter,
Amelia Tomei, and
Ashley Hwang swam it in 1:56.19. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the Garnet A squad was faster than the competition in each leg of the event.
Rose Ridder,
Ashley Hwang,
Jillian Haywood and
Sophie Moody combined for a 1:42.85 time.
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Ashley Hwang finished in first (1:00.97) and
Sarah Solomon came in second (1:02.06).
Erica Flor had the other Garnet win, swimming the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.20, narrowly edging Washington's Ellen Maxwell by two one-hundredths of a second.
Swarthmore is back in action on Saturday in the final home meet of the season. The Garnet host Gettysburg College at 2 p.m.
