SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Swimming captured first place in 11 of 14 events Saturday to win the dual meet against the Ursinus College Bears 161-99.
Liam Fitzstevens set a new Ware Pool record in the 200-yard backstroke, winning the event in 1:54.93 and narrowly edging the old record of 1:55.02. Fitzstevens also won the 100-yard backstroke (52.97) and the 400-yard individual medley (4:15.31).
Andrew Steele won two events for the Garnet, the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races in times of 21.71 and 48.28, respectively. The Garnet swept first, second and third in those two events. Swarthmore also went one-two-three in the 200-yard freestyle led by
Chris Smith's 1:46.82 time.
In the relay races that bookended the order of events, the 400-yard medley and the 200-yard freestyle, Swarthmore's A and B teams captured first and second place.
Alejandro Hernandez took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:00.95,
Jason Fu won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:16.72 and the 100-yard butterfly belonged to
Jeffrey Tse in a time of 52.54.
Swarthmore travels to Puerto Rico for a training trip in-between semesters and returns to competition against Cabrini College on Jan. 23 at Ware Pool.\
