LANCASTER, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Swimming came within four points of the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats in Saturday's dual meet. The Diplomats, who were ranked two places higher than the Garnet in the preseason poll, only won by a score of 133-129.
Swarthmore sophomore
Ashley Hwang captured first in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle races withs time of 55:87 and 2:01.53. Freshman
Emily Bley placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (1:01.24) and 400-yard individual medley (4:48.30).
First-year
Sarah Solomon won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:11.01, and fellow freshman Liz Staton won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:33.45.
Swarthmore's Staton, Hwang,
Amelia Tomei and
Sophie Moody took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.26.
The Garnet return to the pool on Saturday at Widener University at 1 p.m.
