Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Garnet Topped By Fords

HAVERFORD, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Soccer fell 3-0 on Saturday afternoon on the road at Haverford College to close out the regular season with a 7-8-3 (3-3-3 Centennial) record.

The Garnet will play in the first round of the Centennial Conference tournament on Wednesday as the fifth seed. They will play at Johns Hopkins University, the fourth seed.

Swarthmore held the highest-scoring Centennial team scoreless through the first half and the first 23 minutes of the second half. Swarthmore senior goalkeeper Tyler Zon recorded six saves in the set back.

Zon turned away a Haverford penalty kick in the 24th minute, making a diving stop to keep the Fords off the board. Zon made another important save in the 57th minute, leaping up to grab a chipped shot. In the 62nd minute, Zon dove to cut off a cross on the ground, snagging it before the intended target could put a foot on it right in front of the goal mouth.

The Fords finally broke through in the 69th minute on a free kick from outside the box. Haverford added its second goal in the 72 minute and topped it off with another tally in the 89th minute.

Swarthmore had two shots on goal early in the contest. Rodrigo Hernadez put a shot on goal in the second minute, and Billy Evers had an on-target attempt in the 13th minute.

Haverford finished the regular season on a 12-game win streak and took the top spot in the Centennial Conference with a 9-0 conference record.
