Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.—Swarthmore College Field Hockey fell 3-1 at home in Saturday afternoon's Centennial Conference matchup with the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays.
Erin Gluck tapped in her seventh goal of the year late in the first half for the Garnet's lone goal. The Garnet earned eight penalty corners and posted 10 shots on the day.
Hopkins took the 1-0 lead in the 12th minute and soon increased the lead with a goal in the 17th minute. The Garnet's deficit reached 3-0 in the 34th, but they responded with a tally less than a minute later. The Garnet earned a corner which was inserted by Gluck to
Ursula Monaghan at the top of the circle. Monaghan cranked a shot from the top of the circle into traffic in front of the cage. Gluck then got a stick on the loose ball and finished it near the left post.
The Garnet battled the Blue Jays to a scoreless second half and earned six shots in the second period.
Swarthmore continues conference play on the road on Thursday afternoon at Washington College.
