Box Score CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team won its fourth straight match with a sweep of Washington College on Tuesday, September 30. The Garnet were near perfect on the attack in the 3-0 (25-8, 25-12, 25-19) to remain undefeated in Centennial Conference action.
Swarthmore (10-4, 3-0 CC) tied a team match-high .438 hitting percentage against the Shorewomen, led by senior
Chastity Hopkins and freshmen
Sarah Wallace and
Bridget Scott. A balanced defense, anchored by junior
Madison Heppe with 14 digs, held the Shorewomen attackers to just a .082 hitting percentage in the three-set match.
Wallace swung 12 kills, while Scott and Hopkins each fired 10 for the Garnet. Junior
Sam DuBois set the attack with 36 assists along with three kills and eight digs. Swarthmore opened the first two sets hitting over .500 and four players finished the match hitting above .400.
Washington College (11-5, 0-3 CC) were led by Audrey Utchen with 13 digs, Taylor Horan with 14 assists and Kristen Lee handled seven kills.
The Garnet will return to Tarble Pavilion on Saturday, October 4 for a tri-match with Johns Hopkins University (12:00 p.m.) and Neumann University (4:00 p.m.).
