Box Score 2 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team (7-4) split with opponents once again at the final day of the Days Inn Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown College. The Garnet concluded the weekend with a sweep of York College (4-10) after falling to the State University of New York at New Paltz (14-3) in straight sets.
Senior
Chastity Hopkins was voted to the All-Tournament team after concluding the weekend with 45 kills and four blocks.
Against SUNY New Paltz, junior
Madison Heppe anchored the defense with 15 digs, while junior
Sam DuBois and freshmen
Sarah Wallace and
Malia Scott each came up with 12. DuBois finished the three-setter with a double-double, adding 28 assists in the effort. Hopkins swung 10 kills and freshmen
Bridget Scott and
Alice Liu came down with two blocks each. The Hawks won with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 25-17.
In the sweep of York (25-17, 25-9, 25-22), Hopkins and Scott paced the attack with 10 and 12 kills, respectively. Heppe led a trio of players with double-digit digs, finishing with 15 in the three-setter. Wallace collected 12 digs, eight kills in addition to three service aces, while DuBois finished with another double-double (28 assists and 13 digs).
The Garnet open Centennial Conference action on Wednesday, September 24 hosting Franklin & Marshall at 7:00 p.m. from Tarble Pavilion.
