Sarah Wallace Named AVCA Division III All-America

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches' Association announced its 2014 Division III All-America teams on Wednesday, and Swarthmore College freshman outside hitter Sarah Wallace was named Honorable Mention All-America. This is the first all-america accolade for the program.

Wallace, a 2014 All-Centennial first team and Rookie of the Year honoree, led the Garnet and topped the conference with 450 kills and 4.02 kills per set. The freshman concluded her first collegiate season with two entries into the program record book. First, her 450 kills sets a new program single-season record for swings - previously 404 set in 2009 by Genny Pezzola '12 and Wallace's 4.02 kills per set average also suprasses Pezzola at 3.88 from 2009.

The San Francisco native averaged 2.89 digs per set to aid the Garnet defense and fuel her double-double figures to 15 matches this season. Wallace's 38 service aces is second-best on the team, while also contributing 40 blocks at the net for Swarthmore.

During the 2014 regular season, Wallace earned ECAC South Player of the Week (10/16), Centennial Conference Player of the Week (10/13) and ECAC South Rookie of the Week (11/5). Last week, she earned postseason accolades from AVCA; All-Region First Team and North Region Rookie of the Year.
