Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team (21-5) needed just three sets to defeat Lycoming College (17-14) on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action. The Garnet downed the Warriors by sets scores 25-13, 25-15 and 25-21 to remain undefeated at Tarble Pavilion with a 11-0 record.
Swarthmore, ranked 7th in the region's NCAA Division III rankings, had defensive support from junior
Sam DuBois and sophomore
Amanda Reed as each recorded 10 digs in the match. Nine different players recorded kills in the victory with senior
Chastity Hopkins and freshmen
Bridget Scott and
Alice Liu each swinging six. Freshman
Malia Scott had 11 assists and three service aces, while freshman
Olivia Leventhal hit five kills and three service aces.
In a match with just three tied scores and one lead change in the second set, the Garnet held the momentum for the duration. The home team hit .286 on the day, including a .462 (14-2-26) clip in the second set to sail past the Warriors.
The Warriors were led by Lauren Fink with 12 digs, while Maggie Slawson and Kristine Jahn each swung seven kills in the effort. Catherine Burger set the attack with 20 assists and earned two service aces.
