Box Score 2 GALLOWAY, N.J. - The Swarthmore College volleyball team defeated Richard Stockton (20-4) and Springfield College (15-6) on Friday afternoon at the Osprey Classic, extending its win streak to twelve matches. The Garnet improve to 18-4 overall and will meet Kean University and New Paltz on Saturday, Oct. 18.
Swarthmore battled back in five sets against the hosts with scores (25-19, 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-12) and ended the Pride in straight sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-16). Swarthmore snapped a 16-match home winning streak for the Ospreys, dating back to 2012, with the five-set victory.
Freshman
Sarah Wallace recorded double-doubles in each match, including a season-high 26 kills against the Ospreys. Wallace collected 11 digs in against both opponents and finished with five total blocks. Junior
Madison Heppe matched a season-high 23 digs in the opening game to finish with 40 digs on the day to anchor the Garnet defense. Junior setter
Sam DuBois finished with 66 assists and 16 digs in the victories.
Against the Ospreys, freshman
Malia Scott earned her sixth double-double on the season with 18 assists and 13 digs and freshman
Olivia Leventhal finished with a season-high 12 kills, hitting .500 in the five-setter. On the front line, Wallace, senior
Chastity Hopkins and freshman Bridgett Scott each came down with two blocks.
The Garnet set the tone against Springfield, hitting .350 in the first set with 18 kills. Freshman
Alice Liu tied a season-best four blocks, while recording four kills and two service aces. Hopkins had a match-high 15 kills and Scott set the defense with 12 digs.
