Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College field hockey team dropped a non-conference game to Eastern by an 8-3 score on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Clothier Field.
Eastern (7-7) got on the scoreboard at the 3:58 mark when Alexa Borrelli poked in a rebound after a shot by Hannah Bartholomew was initially saved by Garnet junior goalkeeper
Ainsley Parrish. Lauren Gay then doubled the Eagle lead by finishing a pass from Shannon Kelliher In the 13th minute.
After the Eagles tallied two more goals, freshman
Clare Perez recorded her first career marker and put the Garnet on the board by dribbling in from the right side and beating goalkeeper Jennifer O'Neill to the far post. Eastern then scored with 2.4 seconds on the clock, and the teams headed into the break with the visitors leading by a 5-1 score.
The teams exchanged five more goals in the second half. Junior

Shivani Chinnappan each scored for the Garnet to make it 7-3 before the Eagles found the back of the cage in the waning minutes to seal the final outcome.
Eastern's O'Neill picked up the victory by redirecting four Garnet shots. Parrish made 10 saves for Swarthmore during the first half before being relieved by freshman
Ellory Laning, who turned away a career-best 16 shots in the setback.
Swarthmore (1-13) resumes Centennial Conference play when it visits McDaniel on Saturday, Oct. 18 at noon.
