COMPLETE RESULTS
SWARTHMORE, Pa. - After the winter break and training trip to Puerto Rico, the Swarthmore College women's swimming team was back in action Wednesday evening hosting Centennial Conference opponent Bryn Mawr. The Garnet won 10 of 11 events for a 134-67 victory over the Owls.
In the 1,000 freestyle freshmen
Abigail Byrne and
Eliana Cohen recorded season-best marks of 11:20.62 and 11:52.49, respectively. Bryne placed first in the event and holds the team's best mark of the season.
Freshman
Erica Flor took the 200-yard freestyle with her season-best finish of 2:04.77 - over two seconds quicker than the second place finisher, senior
Rebecca Teng (2:06.59).
After a semester abroad, juniors
Kate Wiseman and
Supriya Davis returned to the pool in strong fashion as both collected event victories. Wiseman swam the 200-yard IM in 2:17.38, while Davis raced past her competitors for a 58.58 finish in the 100-yard butterfly.
Other event winners include Teng (1:04.09, 100 backstroke), sophomore
Jessica Seigel (5:37.44, 500 freestyle), sophomore
Eva Winter (1:12.33, 100 breaststroke) and sophomore
Nikkia Miller (25.52, 200 freestyle).
Swarthmore won both relay events as Teng, Miller, Lowe and Davis teamed for a 1:55.74 finish in the 200 medley and Flor,
Briana Schoenek, Lowe and Davis finished the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.20.
In the 100-yard freestyle, Bryn Mawr's Kristina Xiang (59.54) finished just hundredths of a second before freshman
Emma Eppley (59.58) to collect the Owls lone event. Eppley's finish was her best of the season.
Both Garnet swim teams will return to action on Saturday, January 25 from Ware Pool hosting Cabrini College at 2:00 p.m.
