Box Score CARLISLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College field hockey squad (2-6, 0-2 CC) dropped its second straight Centennial Conference game, this one at the sticks of Dickinson College by a 2-1 score on the road.
The Red Devils wasted no time by getting on the scoreboard in the second minute of action. Alyssa Stillwell opened the scoring at 1:35 with assist to Alexandra Becker. Dickinson held the ball on its offensive end through the opening 16 minutes of action before Swarthmore had an opportunity. The Garnet began controlling the offense, placing shot after shot on target, but the Red Devils' keeper stood guard.
At halftime, Dickinson held a 2-0 lead - Erica Marshall netted a goal at 27:59 for what would become the game-winner.
The second half opened with a handful of Dickinson penalty corners, but the Garnet defense shut down any open opportunity. About ten minutes into the second half, senior
Nia Jones finally found the back of cage for her fifth goal of the season.
Swarthmore's senior goalkeeper,
Gabby Capone, registered 12 saves in the effort. Katy Schlechtweg earned the victory for Dickinson, stopping four shots.
The Garnet return to Clothier Field on September 28 hosting Johns Hopkins at 12:00 p.m.
