Swarthmore Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's swimming team dropped a dual meet to Ursinus, 134-71, on Saturday, Dec. 7 at the Ware Pool. Despite the loss, the Garnet had two individuals triumph in an event and five swimmers clock in a season-best performance.
Event winners for the Garnet included freshman
Briana Schoenek and sophomore
Nikkia Miller. Schoenek emerged first in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 57.47 seconds, while Miller won the 100-yard breaststroke with a season-best mark of 1:09.65. Sophomore
Eva Winter followed closely behind Miller and hit the wall in 1:11.31, which was her fastest time of the winter.
Other notable season-best performances were made by senior
Rebecca Teng and freshman
Abigail Byrne. Teng was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:03.94 and Byrne had a runner-up finish of 1:03.03 in the 100-yard butterfly.
Swarthmore (1-4, CC 0-3) will return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 22 when it hosts Bryn Mawr at the Ware Pool at 6 p.m.
