Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's soccer team concluded its 2013 season by falling to Arcadia by a 1-0 decision in an ECAC semifinal matchup on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Clothier Field.
After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, Swarthmore came out firing and nearly found the back of the net on multiple occasions in the second half. Senior
McCleary Philbin headed a ball that a Knight defender cleared at the last moment just 1:10 in the second frame before freshman
Caroline Khanna rocketed a shot off the crossbar in the 50th minute of action.
Arcadia (13-4-5), however, got the only goal it needed in the 56th minute to advance to tomorrow's championship match. Lennon Kramer caught
Reba Magier out of the box and lobbed the ball from about 35 yards out into an open net to give the Knights a lead they would never surrender.
Magier made three saves on eight chances for the Garnet, while Arcadia's Jackie Law earned the shutout victory by turning away two of the eight shots she faced.
Swarthmore (10-6-2), which concluded its third consecutive winning campaign with the loss, is slated to return 21 letterwinners and nine starters next season.
