McCleary Philbin scored twice to lift the Swarthmore College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Bryn Mawr on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Clothier Field.
Swarthmore scored its first goal in the 10th minute and never looked back. Junior
Emma Sindelar sent a cross from the left side to the top of the six-yard box to Philbin, who one-timed a shot that landed in the back of the net.
The Garnet added two more tallies before the end of the half to seal the final outcome. Philbin doubled the Garnet lead in the 29th minute by firing a long ball from outside the 18-yard box before freshman
Rebecca Mayeda charged in from the left side and beat goalkeeper Aviva Kosansky with a shot over the goalkeeper's shoulder for insurance.
Senior
Katie Sipiora picked up the victory for Swarthmore between the pipes by making five saves on eight chances, which included one from point-blank range in the opening minutes. Aviva Kosansky of Bryn Mawr (2-14, CC 0-9) suffered the loss despite turning away eight of the 20 shots she faced.
Swarthmore (8-5-2, CC 3-4-2) wraps up the regular season when it hosts Washington College on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 7 p.m. The Garnet will recognize its four-member senior class prior to the match.
