Depth Leads Men's Swimming Past Washington College, 115-90

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Depth across the board and more strong swims from senior Daniel Duncan buoyed the Swarthmore men's swim team to a win on Wednesday, as the team took down Centennial Conference rival Washington College by a 115-90 score.

Duncan accounted for two of the Garnet's four individual wins, taking first in the 200 freestyle (1:47.31) and the 200 butterfly (2:01.16).  The other two victories came via junior John Flaherty (200 backstroke, 2:05.46) and senior Josh Satre (1000 freestyle, 10:31.76).

Despite finishing first in fewer than half of the individual events, it was the Garnet depth that won the day, as the men placed three swimmers in the top five in each event, including a sweep of the 1000 with freshman Joshua Turek-Herman (10:40.28) and senior Charlie Hepper (10:41.73) finishing behind Satre.

Swarthmore also squeezed out a meet-ending 400 freestyle relay victory, as Duncan, Flaherty, sophomore Max Krackow, and junior Jake Benveniste teamed up for a 3:22.85 time and a win by six-tenths of a second over Washington's A-team.

Swarthmore returns to action on Saturday, traveling to take on Gettysburg.  The meet is set to begin at 2 pm.
