Box Score COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team opened Centennial Conference play with a straight set victory over Ursinus College on Wednesday evening, to extend its win streak to eight matches.
Swarthmore (9-1, 1-0), having not dropped the past 24 sets, defeated Ursinus (3-8, 0-2) by set scores of 25-14, 25-10, and 25-19.
The Garnet defense was led by reigning CC player of the week, Madison Heppe, as she collecting 16 digs. The freshman libero also added two service aces on the night. Danielle Sullivan also aided the defense with 12 digs while putting up one solo block and one block assist.
Kat Montemurro collected her fifth double-double of the season as she registered 12 kills and 10 digs for Swarthmore. Sullivan, a strong offensive force, racked up nine kills and three service aces against the Bears, while riding a .450 hitting percentage and committing no errors.
Allie Coleman collected 22 assists in the match, while Brone Lobichusky and Chastity Hopkins added a combined seven kills for the Garnet.
Swarthmore returns to the Tarble Pavilion on Saturday, September 22nd with a conference match against Dickinson. The first set is slated to begin at 12 noon.
