Box Score

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College field hockey team lost its second straight game Wednesday afternoon, 4-2, at No. 16 Ursinus College in Centennial Conference action.

Megan Keenan put Ursinus (3-2, 1-1) on the board in the sixth minute of play to give the Bears a 1-0 early lead that was never relinquished. That goal would be the only scoring action in the first half despite a 11-3 shot advantage for Ursinus.

The Bears added a goal at the 62:00 and 64:00 mark for a 3-0 advantage going into the final 11 minutes of the second stanza. Two minutes later, Swarthmore (5-2, 0-2) collected its first goal in the game. Aarti Rao took the initial shot on target, however it was Katie Teleky grabbing the rebound to convert her sixth goal of the season and shrinking the Bears' lead to 3-1.

Ursinus responded minutes later with a goal from Devin Brakel to close out the Bears offense.

Teleky added her second goal of the game, but it wasn't enough as the Bears held on for the 4-2 rout.

Gabby Capone made six saves between the pipes for the Garnet, while Ursinus goalkeeper Brittany Dolson collected two saves.

Ursinus controlled the offense with a 19-10 shot advantage and 12-7 penalty corner edge.

The Garnet will return to Clothier Field on Saturday, September 22nd for a Centennial Conference match-up against Dickinson. The game is slated to begin at 12 noon.
