Box Score 2 HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Swarthmore College volleyball team, mproving to 6-1 on the season, collected two victories during day one of the Stevens Duck Classic with straight set wins over York College (Pa.) and Kean University.
The Garnet defeated York (Pa.) 25-16, 25-20 and 25-19, while taking Kean, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-20.
In the opening match against the Spartans,
Kat Montemurro led the Garnet with 10 kills and six digs, while
Chastity Hopkins delivered a good showing with seven kills and three blocks.
Allie Coleman added 29 assists to her career total and
Madison Heppe collected 10 digs in the winning effort over York (Pa.) (2-10).
Against Kean (6-3),
Brone Lobichusky put down 10 kills for the Garnet, while Montemurro collected eight and
Danielle Sullivan added six kills. Heppe and
Samantha DuBois each served two aces, while totaling 20 digs; Heppe had nine, while DuBois added 11 digs.
Swarthmore will compete in two more matches tomorrow afternoon beginning with FDU-Florham at 12:00 p.m. followed by finishing out the tournament with the host, Stevens at 2:00 p.m.
