SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Led by strong swims across the board, the Swarthmore men's swim team (3-0, 2-0) dismantled the rival Franklin & Marshall Diplomats on Saturday by a 125-80 score.
Swarthmore got in the win column early, as sophomore Max Krackow, junior Stan Le, and seniors Daniel Duncan and Roger Chin teamed up to take the opening 200 medley relay (1:39.80).
The Garnet went on to win five individual events, courtesy of five different swimmers. Duncan took the 200 freestyle in 1:46.86; junior John Flaherty touched first in the 200 IM (2:02.85); junior Jake Benveniste won the 100 butterfly (55.74), followed closely by senior Charlie Hepper (56.26); Chin won the 100 backstroke in 55.78; and Le beat the field in the 100 breaststroke, touching in 1:03.06.
Sophomore Sam Tomlinson was a close second in both sprint freestyle events (22.76 and 49.86).
The men finished the day with a win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Duncan, Tomlinson, Flaherty, and Krackow teamed up to touch in 1:29.70.
The Garnet returns to the pool at the Rowan next Saturday. Action is set to begin at 1:00 pm.
