Women's Soccer Crushes Washington College, 3-0

Box Score

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - A career night from senior Haley Most propelled the Swarthmore College women's soccer team (6-3, 3-1) to a 3-0 victory over visiting Washington College (4-5, 1-3) on Wednesday evening from Clothier Field.

Most had a hand in all three Garnet goals, scoring in the 26th and 47th minutes and assisting on Swarthmore's final goal in the 52nd minute. Junior Aly Passanante recorded the Garnet's final goal and assisted on Most's tally to start the second half. Freshman Melissa Trofa added an assist.

Swarthmore was superior in all phases of the match, out-shooting the Shorewomen 31-5, owning a 10-1 edge in corner kicks and placing 13 shots on target.

The Garnet first lit up the scoreboard in the 26th minute when Most connected on the first of her two goals, finding the back of the net on a shot from the right wing to make it 1-0 Swarthmore.

Despite the Garnet's continued domination of play, the score remained 1-0 until early in the second half. Just a little less than one minute into the second half, Most -- who entered the match with just one goal in her career -- scored her second goal of the contest, beating the Washington 'keeper in a one-on-one situation to make it a 2-0 match.

With the floodgates now open, Swarthmore scored again just five minutes later, and Most again played a part. She set-up Passanante, who scored from close range to round out the 3-0 victory.

Four goalkeepers saw action for the Garnet, with senior Beth Martin, freshman Reba Magier and freshman Caela Long each recording a save. Shorewomen goalkeeper Rebecca Potochney finished with 10 saves.

Swarthmore returns to action on Saturday when it hosts Gettysburg in a critical Centennial Conference match-up. Action is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
