Box Score

SWARTHMORE, Pa.—The Swarthmore College men's soccer team (10-1-2) netted an early goal and never looked back, defeating local rival Neumann 3-0 on a rainy Monday afternoon at Clothier Field Stadium.

The win is the Garnet's 10th of the season and extends its unbeaten streak to season-best seven matches.

It was all the Stewart twins in the first half for the Garnet. Sophomore Michael Stewart continued his scoring tear, capitalizing in just the second minute of the game, netting his ninth of the season to put the Garnet on top 1-0. Junior forward Joe Keedy was credited with the assist. Sophomore Geoffrey Stewart put the Garnet up 2-0 with his first goal of the season in the in 34th minute, with freshman Wyatt McCall getting the assist.

The Garnet kept momentum going into the second half. In the 73rd minute sophomore Koby Levin scored his first career goal to create a three-goal deficit in favor of the Garnet. Levin was fed by Centennial Offensive Player of the Week, junior Jack Momeyer, marking the third straight match in which Momeyer has scored at least one point.

It was a dominant offensive performance for the Garnet, who outshot the Knights 16-5.  A stalwart defensive performance forced Swarthmore keeper, junior Peter Maxted to make just two saves on the day. Neumann (9-5-2) goalkeeper Alex Lacko turned a solid performance as well, with six saves.

Swarthmore will return to conference play away against Johns Hopkins on Saturday, October 20. Play is set for 6:00.
