Volleyball Fights Past McDaniel 3-1; Coleman Reaches 3,000 Assists

WESTMINSTER, Md. - After dropping the first set to homestanding McDaniel, the Swarthmore College volleyball team (14-4, 5-2) roared back to defeat the Green Terror 3-1 (21-25, 25-14,  25-10, 25-17) on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference action.

Senior Allie Coleman finished the match with 34 assists and reached a milestone in the process, becoming just second player in program history and 20th in Centennial Conference history to eclipse 3,000 assists for a career.

Senior Kat Montemurro recorded her 10th double-double of the season with a team-best 16 kills and 15 digs and is now just 11 kills shy of 1,000 for her career. Junior Danielle Sullivan also added a double-double with 23 digs and 14 kills.

The fiesty Green Terror surprised the Garnet by winning the first set 25-21, but it was all Swarthmore from that point on. The Garnet dominated the final three sets, winning by scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-17 to earn its third consecutive Centennial Conference win.

Sophomore Kate Amodei finished with season-high 15 digs, junior Brone Lobichusky recorded nine kills and Coleman also added nine digs to go along with her assist milestone.

The Garnet return to action on Wednesday at Muhlenberg. Play is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
