In the storied history of the Swarthmore College men's tennis program, Coss stands out as one of its most accomplished players. During his four-year career, Coss accumulated a remarkable 48-1 regular season singles record. He posted an undefeated record in both the 1952 and 1955 seasons, combining for a 49-0 mark in singles and doubles. Coss won consecutive Eastern Intercollegiate Championships with victories over the University of North Carolina and Yale University. At the conference level, he won a program-best seven Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, including four straight singles titles to lead his team to three MAC Championships. After graduating from Swarthmore, Coss was a five-time participant in the U.S. Nationals, and champion of the Armed Services Tournament. In 2012, Coss was named to the MAC 100 Century Team, confirming his legacy as one of the conference's greatest athletes.
