Givans Dominates Hurdles to Lead Women's Track & Field at Moravian Greyhound Invitational

Bethlehem, Pa. - It was another outstanding day for junior Kenyetta Givans, as the Garnet star finished in second place (1st among college athletes)  in the 110 meter hurdles and fifth in the 400 meter hurdles to lead the Swarthmore women's track & field team at the Moravian Greyhound Invitational on Sunday.

Despite battling windy conditions, Givans finished the 110 hurdles in a season-best time of 15:13 and the 400 meter hurdles in a collegiate-best time of 1:05.96, which also ranks third all-time in Swarthmore history.

Along with Givans, several other members of the Garnet excelled in one of the squad's final meets before the Centennial Championships.

Sophomore Rebecca Hammond finished second place in the 800m with a season-best time of 2:18.07.

Sophomore Becky Painter (4:59.14) and senior Katie Gonzalez (5:01.27) both crossed the finish line in personal-best times while qualifying for the Centennial Championships.

Junior Naomi Glassman also speared a Centennial qualifying mark in the javelin throw (62-00).

The Garnet heads to nearby Widener on Friday for its final prep before the Centennial Championships.
