Annalise Penikis Named Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week
LANCASTER, Pa. - Sophomore Annalise Penikis of the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team has been named the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 24, the conference announced on Monday afternoon.
Penikis' outstanding week almost led the Garnet into the Centennial Conference playoffs. The Centennial Conference's leading scorer accumulated a staggering 15 goals and six assists in the Garnet's three Conference games, leading Swat to a 1-2 week. Against Dickinson, she finished with three goals and three assists. In a dramatic win over Washington, Penikis netted a career-high eight goals, including the game winner with :16 seconds to play. Finally against Haverford, Penikis scored four goals as Swarthmore almost pulled off the home upset. With her four goals against Haverford, Penikis became just the fourth player in Swarthmore history (first since 1995) and ninth in Centennial Conference history to reach 100 points for a single season.
Swarthmore finished the regular season 9-7 overall and 3-6 in the Centennial Conference.
