Men's Track & Field Returns to Action With Widener's Danny Curran Invite

CHESTER, Pa. -  The Swarthmore College men's track & field team began the heart of its 2012 spring season with the Danny Curran Invite at Widener University over the weekend.

Junior Matthew Heck picked up right where his strong indoor season left off, taking 21st in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.93.

In the 400 meter hurdles, freshman Jason Heo took 18th with a time of 1:02.38.

In the distance events, sophomore Dan Kalamarides crossed the line 21st in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 15:51.28. Freshman Jonas Oppenheimer (pictured) and junior Jacob Phillips led the Garnet contingent in the 1,500 run, placing 30th (4:08.12) and 47th (4:14.86) respectively among a tough field. Senior Harold Blum finished 14th in the 10,000 meter run (34:57.86).

In the men's triple jump, senior Daniel Ly finished sixth with a jump of 41-07.00.

Swarthmore returns to action next weekend with the Princeton Distance Night and Richard Stockton Osprey Invitational.
