Men's Basketball Drops Centennial Battle to Muhlenberg, 68-51

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A second half scoring push propelled the Muhlenberg Mules (13-7, 7-6 CC) past the Swarthmore men's basketball team (1-19, 1-12 CC) to complete the series sweep on Wednesday night, 68-51.

Senior Marc Rogalski and sophomore Jordan Federer led the Garnet offense with 10 points apiece.  Federer also led Swat under the boards with eight boards while dishing out a team-high six assists.

Both teams got off to a slow start as the game was scoreless for the first three and a half minutes. Federer put the Garnet on the board first, dropping a three-pointer at the 16:33 mark, giving Swat the lead. 

Swarthmore built its lead to as much as seven points when sophomore Jay Kober dropped a three with less than 10 minutes in the half to go up 18-11.  Kober was two-for-two from behind the arc and finished the game with nine points.

The Garnet held onto its lead for most of the first before the Mules went on a 10-0 scoring run to take their first lead of the game.

The Garnet had a tough second half from the field, shooting only 29 percent while Muhlenberg stepped up its offense, shooting 54 percent from the field and 38 percent from the field. 

Swarthmore returns to Tarble Pavilion on Saturday, February 4 when it hosts the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays.  Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
