BALTIMORE--Swarthmore College Men's Track and Field finished in third place at the end of this weekend's Centennial Conference Championship. The Garnet scored 91 total points, up 20 points from last season's fourth-place finish.
The Garnet earned 19 points in Sunday's triple jump with
Daniel Belkin claiming gold (Belkin also won gold in the high jump on Saturday) and
Chris Chan taking bronze. Belkin's furthest jump was marked at 13.50 meters and Chan's was 12.65m.
Benjamin Hejna's first jump went 12.47m, good enough for sixth place and three more points.
Belkin also led off the Garnet's 4x400 relay squad in the final event of the day. The Garnet team of Belkin,
Zain Hannan,
Saadiq Garba and
Benjamin Warren had been seeded fourth in the event but sprinted to second-place with a time of 3:22.57.
The day led off with a point for the Garnet in the 4x100 with
Adil Belgaumi,
Robert Eppley, Hannan and
Noah Lifset running in 46.06.
In the 110-meter hurdles,
Robert Eppley scored three points with a time of 16.68m.
The Garnet added four more points in the 400 with Hannan's 50.74 and Garba's 51.83.
In the 200 dash, Belgaumi scored four points with a time of 22.69.
In the shot put, all three of Swarthmore's throwers advanced to the finals.
Andrew Jansen took fourth (14.04m),
Jared Hunt sixth (13.59m) and
Ryan Marrone eighth (13.13m).
Noah Rosenberg secured bronze in the javelin with a throw of 55.54m.
